The viscount was well pleased with the purchase of a gift for Letty that he felt was bound to outdo both Fitzâs and Charlesâ. Why he should wish to outdo them was a question that flitted through his mind, but was immediately dismissed.
After he had made the purchase, he made his way to the château, where he found John Darcy, Fitz, and Charles. He favored Darcy with conversation, but was still annoyed with both Fitz and Charles, and did his best to ignore them.
After a deep game of Hazard, Bel shook his head and announced he was finished with gaming for the afternoon. Fitz and Charles accompanied the viscount as he made his way to Lady Marlingâs stables, and arranged for their horses to be delivered from the hotel stables and housed at Lady Marlingâs leased stables.
On the way back to the Marling establishment, Fitz raised an eye to his cousin and said sourly, âBel, here we are, February nearly gone, and I donât see that we have accomplished what we set out to do. Time to go home.â

Lettyâs cheeks were flushed with pleasure, and her jade green eyes alight with excitement as she viewed her friends and waited for their reactions.
The viscountâs breath got as far as his throat. He felt a tingling of his senses, and a heat born of an emotion he could not name. She literally took his breath away, and he was completely aware of the fact.
She wore a gown of white silk, whose bodice was daringly scooped to display the swells of her full breasts. The sleeves were long and embroidered with violet flowers. The gown hugged her exquisite body in a straight line from beneath the bodice. From the knees to the scalloped hem, the dress was littered with the same violet flowers that adorned the sleeves. Lettyâs hair was a mass of wild tawny curls that seemed to invite the eyes and urge a man to touch. He certainly had a strong desire to reach out and touch. Lettyâs ears glittered with the new gems Fitz had given her, and at her throat was the matching necklace Charles had bestowed on her. She was in every imaginable way, an enchanting creature!
âYou beauty, you!â Bel said from the heart. âMy Godâ¦Letty.â
Lettyâs cheeks colored rosily before their
